I received a post on facebook this weekend from a young woman who had attended one of my Spirit Circles. I guess that she was so excited about having had contact with a few loved ones that she spread it around to her friends that she had attended and how neat it was. She was sent a scathing email from one of her good friends allegedly (since I didn't see it) stating that coming to my circles and such were against God's wishes and that I was evil and probably communicating with the devil. She asked how I would handle that or she should handle that.

Firstly, as I've stated before. We are all entitled to our opinions. That's what makes this country great. It was founded by people who were looking for a place to be "free" in all areas of their lives. But, the big one being religious freedom. My religion "Divine Metaphysics" believes wholeheartedly in communication with Spirit. Hence, it is part of my religion to do what I do. Secondly, as many instances in the Bible that talk of the evils of spirit communication there are just as many that show that Spirit communication was going on then too and was widely accepted as fact. Below are some of the passages I am talking about (copied from the United Metaphysical Churches website).....

Divine Metaphysics found in the Bible
Genesis 15: 12 - Abraham goes into a trance
Genesis 16: 7-11 - The angel of the Lord appears to Hagar in the wilderness and comforts her.
Exodus 3: 2-10 - An angel speaks to Moses out of the burning bush.
1 Samuel 9: 10-20 - Samuel is consulted by Saul as a seer.
1 Samuel 28: 6-20 - Saul consults a medium and asks to talk to the spirit of Samuel.
Matthew 17: 3-5 - The Apostles hear the voices of Moses and Elias on the mount.
Mark 16: 18 - They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
John 2: 1-11 - Making wine from water at the marriage feast.
Acts 3: 1-8 - Peter cures the lame man.
Acts 9: 4-7 - And the man which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no man.
Romans 8: 26 - Paul has a clear understanding of spiritual agencies.
I tire of judgement. Those who say they are Christians most often do not act as such. They love to point fingers and imply that they are better than you or me. As for how to deal with someone like this.....thank her for her concern....tell her that you are an adult and can make up your own mind...and let it go - never bringing it up again. And if she tries to bring it up....say kindly.....I love you but you need to stop. If she doesn't.....walk away with no looking back. Friends who do not allow you to be you are not your friends. So be it.

Many of us ( maybe even all of us) have had someone close to us take their own life. Most times it is shocking to those of us left behind. And when the victim of suicide doesn't leave a note explaining their reasons, it can be just emotionally debilitating - to say the least. Rarely are we given any indication that the person is going to do what they are going to do...but if we look back, we can maybe remember a gesture or two or a mention of a what if.....

I have read for a few people who have had the experience of someone passing from suicide. During one circle that I was hosting a Spirit came to me screaming in my face.....he had shot himself. He was angry when he did it and he was still angry. His poor wife was sitting there and I had nothing to tell her other than what he had passed from he was still feeling. And this was two years later! It is a myth that when we die we are magically transformed into someone who knows all the answers. Usually a victim of suicide deals with the same issues he or she had in life - in death. They will just have to work on it from the other side. Since I believe that death is but just another dimension - you can see how futile the exercise of suicide can be or is.

One woman came to me for a reading and her mother had committed suicide leaving all her children a note....except her. For years, this poor daughter felt responsible for her mother's death. When her mother appeared to me she was still the narcissistic person the daughter described to me. She had deliberately not left her daughter a note - to play with her head. Lovely huh? But she did leave her with a gift during that reading....she told her to get over herself. Her death was not about her daughter and her reaction to it - it was about HER! As everything in life had been about her. Suddenly the daughter had closure and could walk away from it with a fresh realization.

I once did a reading for someone whose sister had committed suicide. She had shot herself. I saw the situation replayed in my mind like a movie and the young woman...immediately upon leaving her body...wanted back in. It happens more often than not. On the way down from the building they jump out of...they suddenly realize it wasn't what they really wanted to do after all.

For whatever reason a person chooses to take this act...we must honor it. It was their life. Their choice and if for some reason they felt the need to vacate...well, we miss them but who are we to say that what they did was wrong? Could their death be a lesson in love for us? Could their dying make us stronger individuals? We never know sometimes the whole reason and what life has in store for those of us left behind. The thing we must all realize is that we must make the best of every single situation. No matter how tough something may seem...there is good and deep abiding love intertwined within it.

Let them go......miss them...but let them go. It is all that we can do for them now. Blessings....

Mercury Maddness by Susan Miller

At several points throughout the year most of us will be bombarded with the maddening effects of Mercury in retrograde.Mercury is a planet which governs all transportation and communication issues. Mercury is not an emotional planet, but rather a highly objective, truth-seeking one. It rules intelligence, education and truth. When it is in retrograde, some of its power is held back.

When Mercury starts turning in an apparent backward motion, we will start to feel the effects of this event days or even as far as two weeks earlier. When the planet normalizes we will see the tempo of events pick up in our lives as the planet becomes "stationary" and then speeds forward.

Gemini and Virgo are signs ruled by Mercury, so if you are one of those born during those months, you will be complaining especially loudly. If you work in the industries ruled by this planet such as sales, writing, public relations, advertising, publishing, air freight, the post office or express mail, any transportation industry, from the airlines to Amtrak, you'll also be especially vulnerable to this planet's weird motions in September. (If you are a Gemini, for example, who works in publishing, it's no use calling in for a month of mental health days--you can't escape!)

What happens when Mercury retrogrades? You miss appointments, your computer equipment crashes, checks get lost, you find the car you just purchased during Mercury retrograde is a lemon. (Or, you hate your haircut, the lamp you bought shorts out, your sister hates her birthday gift.) There will be countless delays, cancellations and postponements--but know these will benefit you in the long run. Don't fight them, although your frustration level and feeling of restlessness will be hard to cope with at times.

All machinery and things with moving parts--such as computers, VCRs, camera equipment, garbage disposals, and so forth, will reveal any weak links now. It is critical that you back up your data system and be more careful and vigilant than ever. Projects will demand more time and money than anticipated this month.

In matters of the heart, if your boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with you or says something hurtful, take a wait-and-see attitude. Since Mercury rules speech, they may not mean what you think they are saying now. Let them have some space, and wait to see if they mean in October what they said in September.

When traveling, leave early and allow for extra travel time. Have all bags double-taped closed, count your belongings, double-check addresses and reconfirm appointments. Things get lost when Mercury messes us up. Take NOTHING for granted. The sector of your chart that Mercury happens to be skating through will be effected most dramatically, so check your forecast!

Why would the Universe give us Mercury retrograde? Because to move forward it is sometimes necessary to backtrack and reconfigure our paths in life. It is important to reconsider, repair, reflect, and reconnect. Mercury forces us to slow down and fix what's broken, and in so doing, rethink things. It also gives us time to get to projects we have put on the back-burner.

Some activities are lucky or actually improve when Mercury retrogrades. You are likely to bump into old friends that you haven't seen in years. Adopted children tend to find their birth parents during Mercury retrograde periods, or people locate their long lost siblings. Prosecutors often find clues to crimes that had previously remained unsolved for years. (Although sometimes the reverse is true--there is a greater danger, or example, that police can bungle evidence during a Mercury retrograde period, for clear thinking doesn't come easy for any of us then.) Mail that went astray weeks or even years ago shows up during Mercury retrograde. Some things that were lost reappear.

Now is also a good time to dress old wounds, clean up relationships or to simply bury the hatchet. Some people have great breakthroughs in psychotherapy during a Mercury retrograde period. For salesman, it is a positive time to backtrack over previous contacts rather than call on new ones. It is a perfect time to schedule work on projects that you haven't had time to do and you've let pile up. Bring your resume or portfolio up to date, and clean out your closets. Take time to paint the house. Clear your decks.

Just try not to start new things. If you have to start a job during a Mercury retrograde period know that the nature of the job is likely to change dramatically over time. Perhaps the person you report to will leave, or your responsibilities will be very different from what you thought they would be. Or your company won't be ready to take you on, and you won't have much to do until things are reorganized. But remember, if this was a position that you tried for in the past, then you've got the vibes working for you rather than against you.

Finally, what about people born with Mercury retrograde? If you are due to give birth to a baby during this period, don't fret. The ancients felt that this aspect lends a more philosophical tone to the character. Mercury rules thinking, therefore an individual born with this aspect tends to reflect deeply over events and issues throughout their lifetimes. In this case, having this aspect could be a big plus! Your astrologer was born with Mercury retrograde--so relax!

TED ANDREWS, ACCLAIMED AUTHOR OF ANIMAL SPEAK, DIES AT AGE 57

Ted Andrews, acclaimed author, most notable for Animal Speak: The Spiritual and Magical Powers of Creatures Great and Small, born 1952, died on October 24, 2009. He is survived by beloved wife Kathy, other family, friends and fans too many to count.

Everyone in the metaphysical genre knows his Animal Speak as the most comprehensive book on animal totems. Andrews said, “…all animals speak to those who listen. When we learn to speak with the animals…..the animals are no longer our subordinates. They become our teachers, our friends, and our companions.” Through the years I have bought dozens of this book to share with friends. Ted Andrews and his work will be missed.

From the extensive feedback we've received over the past 8 years, the reported cures from drinking Apple Cider Vinegar are numerous. They include cures for allergies (including pet, food and environmental), sinus infections, acne, high cholesterol, flu, chronic fatigue, candida, acid reflux, sore throats, contact dermatitis, arthritis, and gout. One reader reported that a shot of ACV saved him from going to the emergency room for heart pain. Apple Cider Vinegar also breaks down fat and is widely used to lose weight. It has also been reported that a daily dose of apple cider vinegar in water has high blood pressure under control in two weeks!

Apple Cider Vinegar is also wonderful for pets, including dogs, cats, and horses. It helps them with arthritic conditions, controls fleas & barn flies, and gives a beautiful shine to their coats!

If you can get over the taste of apple cider vinegar, you will find it one of the most important natural remedies in healing the body. As a wonderful side effect of drinking apple cider vinegar every day, we've discovered that it brings a healthy, rosy glow to one's complexion! This is great news if you suffer from a pale countenance.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR DOSAGES AND RECIPES

As you know, Earth Clinic has recommended the standard 2 teaspoons in 8 oz of water 3x a day for years now. For more severe conditions, we recommended 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water 3x a day. We now think that less vinegar, more water is an optimal way of taking apple cider vinegar daily unless you are treating an acute condition like acid reflux, cough, bronchitis, or sore throat (in which case the stronger concoction of 2 TBS ACV to 8 OZ of water 3x a day recipe is suggested).

For daily maintenance, weight loss and pH balancing, we now suggest the following:

2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar
16 ounces of water
Sip, don't chug!

We suggest 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in 16 ounces of water that you'll sip throughout the day, rather than drinking the whole concoction at once 3 times a day. You will be keeping your pH in a constant, alkalized state by sipping this highly diluted dosage. Usually 1-2 tall glasses of the concoction are all you'll need each day.

If you drink a lot of water throughout the day, consider adding just a splash of apple cider vinegar to your glass/container each time you fill it up, rather than drinking the one, 16 oz glass of acv and water mentioned above.

For the record, we are not big fans of adding baking soda to apple cider vinegar, nor are we fans of adding any kind of sweetener to the acv/water solution. The baking soda works great for some people, but causes severe side effects in others.

Also, we know the Bragg brand is the most popular apple cider vinegar on the market, but we've had just as good results using Whole Foods' organic and Trader Joe's organic apple cider vinegar.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR RECIPES

Standard Dosage: 2 teaspoons of ACV in 8 oz of water. Add honey to taste.
Acute Conditions: 2 tablespoons of ACV in 8 oz of water. No honey.

Note: 2 Tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar may be too much apple cider vinegar for some people. We suggest you start with the standard dosage and see how your body responds to a teaspoon or two of acv. If all goes well, you can up the dosage over time if you feel a need arise.

he holiday of Autumn Equinox, Harvest Home, Mabon, the Feast of the Ingathering, Meán Fómhair or Alban Elfed (in Neo-Druidic traditions), is a ritual of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth and a recognition of the need to share them to secure the blessings of the Goddess and God during the winter months. The name Mabon was coined by Aidan Kelly around 1970 as a reference to Mabon ap Modron, a character from Welsh mythology.[14] In the northern hemisphere this equinox occurs anywhere from September 21 to 24. In the southern hemisphere, the autumn equinox occurs anywhere from March 19 to 22. Among the sabbats, it is the second of the three harvest festivals, preceded by Lammas/Lughnasadh and followed by Samhain.

(Don't worry, Mercury isn't in retrograde...yet)

Mercury is the planet that rules over communication, the transmission of information and the operation of small machinery, and for the next week or so it will be under stress, potentially causing disruptions in the way we communicate with others and the smooth operation of business.

Mercury is in its own sign of Virgo where it is usually practical and logical, good with details and effective in creating order out of the routine of day-to-day life. It is approaching a conjunction to Saturn which will encourage us to take a more serious approach to the everyday workings of our life. This is a time to knuckle down and honor responsibilities rather than seek the freedom of our individuality.

Mars is the planet that stimulates desire and passion, and it is in Mercury's other sign of Gemini. A heightened intensity in communication is one of the hallmarks of Mars in Gemini and we are certainly seeing this with the fervor exhibited in the Town Hall meetings over health care that began last week when Mars (aggression) made a square to Saturn (authority figures)..

Mars in Gemini also seeks new experiences and does not like to be tied down, and as Mercury gets closer to the conjunction (a challenging aspect) to Saturn it will also square Mars which will exacerbate the heightened passions that we are seeing and perhaps feeling as well.

Mars is raw energy, and offers the potential to harness that energy and utilize it to accomplish our goals. However, these are challenging aspects that make it necessary to use a conscious application of WIll in order to focus this energy in a specific direction and mobilize our intentions.
The exact square from Mercury to Mars will occur on August 27, so this tension is likely to prevail until then and will be most problematic for those of us with planets in the later degrees of the mutable signs (Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, Sagittarius).
